I have always loved the northern parts of Europe. As you may have noticed, I added some pictures of the aurora borealis that I took in Tromsø. Visiting Tromsø in the winter made a lasting impression on me, which is why I started looking for more places with a nice, adventurous vibe. While searching for destinations, I came across Rovaniemi, Santa Claus's hometown, and found out that every winter, people build hotels completely made of ice.
Travelling from Germany to Rovaniemi by airplane requires quite a few connections.
It would be possible to go there using my own car, but it would take much longer and require special winter equipment for the car. That's why I rented a car in Rovaniemi and enjoyed driving on the winter roads and observing how the Finns handle snowy roads and temperatures. But that is a story for another time.
Here are some impressions of the ice hotel where I stayed. The people who built the hotel put a lot of effort into creating a fantastic interior design for each room.
